Wisconsin's Animal Haven Zoo paid Joe Exotic $5,000 for lions, violating the Endangered Species Act

Animal Haven Zoo, Weyauwega, WI paid Joe Exotic $5000 for two lions in 2018, according to transcripts from Joe Exotic’s trial. The sale and transport of endangered species across state borders is a violation of the federal Endangered Species Act.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has not indicted Animal Haven Zoo owners Jim and Dawn Hofferber.

Visitors to Animal Haven Zoo say the lions are suffering in tiny cages in freezing cold and extreme heat.

“The lion made me the saddest. That big guy was CRYING. Not roaring, CRYING. Long, drawn out cries...he’s got to be really old, too. He could hardly move,” a witness says.

Please, continue submitting reports to the USDA asking that they check on the animals at Animal Haven Zoo by visiting https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/ourfocus/animalwelfare/complaint-form.
